Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026 · Effective immediately
MyBibleChat ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form) when you register.
- Phone number: If you provide a phone number for pastoral contact purposes, it is stored securely and used only for that purpose.
- Profile information: Optional details you provide such as age, gender, relationship status, faith background, and prayer topics. These are used solely to personalise your pastoral support experience.
- Profile photos and shared images: Photos you upload as your profile picture, attach to community posts and messages, or include in bug reports. These are stored in cloud object storage (see Section 6).
- User-generated content: Journals (gratitude and prayer journals), community posts, comments, direct messages, AI chat conversations, Shepherd's Hour messages with human pastors, prayer requests, lesson responses, and bug reports you submit.
- Purchase history: Subscription status and entitlements for Shepherd's Hour, managed via RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Push notification token: A device identifier used to deliver notifications. This is never shared with third parties for marketing.
- Diagnostics & usage data: Crash reports, error logs, session activity, message timestamps, and interaction counts used to keep the app stable and improve our service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide community chat, journals, AI pastoral assistance, and Shepherd's Hour sessions with human pastors and counselors.
- To send pastoral check-in messages, community replies, and notification updates.
- To personalise AI responses with context you have voluntarily shared.
- To manage your account, subscriptions, and Shepherd's Hour bookings.
- To investigate bug reports and improve the app through diagnostics and usage analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Pastoral Conversations & Confidentiality
We understand that conversations with our AI pastoral assistant and human pastors may involve sensitive personal matters — grief, mental health, family struggles, and faith challenges. We treat all such content with the utmost care:
- Conversation content is stored securely and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
- Human pastors can only see messages within their active assigned sessions.
- Administrators have limited access to session metadata (e.g., message count and timestamps) for platform management purposes, but do not routinely read individual conversations.
- If you are in crisis, our system may flag your conversation for pastoral follow-up — this is done to protect your wellbeing, not for commercial purposes.
4. Payments & Subscriptions
The Shepherd's Hour feature uses in-app purchases processed by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements and purchase history. We do not receive or store your payment card details — all billing is handled by the respective platform. Refund requests must be made through Apple or Google.
6. Object Storage (Photos & Files)
Profile photos, images you attach to community posts or messages, and screenshots included in bug reports are uploaded to Google Cloud Storage via Replit Object Storage. Public assets (such as your profile photo) are served via signed URLs over HTTPS. Private uploads are access-controlled and only accessible to authorised users and administrators. Files are deleted from object storage when the associated content is deleted or your account is removed.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate MyBibleChat:
8. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Journals, posts, and chat messages are retained to provide conversation and journaling continuity.
- Upon account deletion, your personal data and uploaded photos are removed within 30 days.
- Diagnostic and crash logs are retained for up to 90 days.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete data via your in-app profile settings.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: Request an export of your data.

10. Children's Privacy
MyBibleChat is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
11. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, and role-based access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; however, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information.
12. International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. By using our service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
